Road accidents are nothing new and before the coming of the motor car the horse and cart was an equally dangerous mode of transport and resulted in the following losses of life.
John Horsepool (1853 - 1870) - died when his horse and cart was hit by a train.
Emily Horspool (1800 - 1865) - died when she fell from a runaway horse and trap.
William Horsepoole of Bingham - injured by falling from a cart, but his fate is unknown.
Accidents at work also accounted for several individuals losing their lives.
Joseph Horspool (1870 - 1908) - died as the result of a mining accident.
George Horspole (1872 - 1898) - died as the result of an accident at the docks.
Others met their death through drowning
Peter Horspool (1808 - 1879) - drowned in pursuit of his smoking habit.
William Horspool (1816 - 1831) - also drowned in tragic circumstances.
Frank Horsepool (1898 - 1932) - shows it doesn't take a lot of water.
