George Horspool was born in Oakham, Rutland, England in 1792 and was publican of the Stag and Hounds Inn at Burrough on the Hill, Leicesterhire until his death in 1878.
The following report appeared in the Grantham Journal on Saturday 24 June 1871and the Lincolnshire Chronicle on Friday 23 June 1871.
John Baines, labourer, Burrough, was charged by George Horspool, publican, of same place, with unlawfully assaulting him and threatening to knock his brains out the 11th inst., and prayed sureties of the peace. —Allowed to arrange out of court.—Costs paid
